Hey Lake City and Friends,

I hope all is well in our wonderful little town. I’m writing you today from Columbus, Ohio. Judah and I will be headed back on Monday, but are breaking up the trip on the return journey. I’ve missed you all and look forward to see you soon.

Tomorrow, May 1st is not only May Day, it’s the Third Sunday of Easter. John Roose is our guest preacher and worship leader this week. He’ll be preaching from John 21:1-19. Our lectionary texts for this week can be found here. Like last week, they are at the end of the online order of worship bulletin (link below).

 Next week is Mother’s Day! Jason will be back and we’ll be celebrating the Lord’s Supper. Then we’ll have our monthly potluck after the service.

Wednesday Bible Study
No Bible Study this week. This week is also the last week to complete the CPC Summer Series Survey 2022 and offer your input for future Bible Study topics. Check your emails from the last two weeks for the survey link. 

Men’s Prayer Breakfast
Join the men of Lake City this Thursday, May 5th at 7:00am for good food, prayer, and Bible study. 

Communion, Potluck and Mothers, Oh My!
Next Sunday, May 8th is Mother’s Day! On that Sunday, we’ll also be celebrating communion, so if you’re joining us via Zoom, please bring your elements to the service. Then, after worship we’ll gather for our monthly potluck!

I hope you’re all well and in warmer weather than we are here in Lake City. It’s in the low 30s here and we’re getting snow! 😉

Tomorrow, April 24th is the Second Sunday of Easter and our preaching text will come from the Gospel of John. You can read it and the other lectionary texts here. Alternatively, you can also read them at the end of the online order of worship bulletin (link below). We’ll also have the espresso machine up and running tomorrow for fellowship, so join us after for a hot drink and a cookie.

Good afternoon all,

I hope this post finds you all well on this Good Friday. It’s hard to believe that Easter is only a couple days away. Tonight, however, we’ll observe this holy day through our Tenebrae Good Friday service, where we’ll be hearing the final seven words of Christ alongside a selection of Taizé chants. The services starts at 7:00pm and will be in the sanctuary. This service will not be offered on Zoom.

This Sunday, we’ll be joining with the rest of the Lake City churches for our Community Service of the Resurrection. There are several other ways you can participate as well.

Here’s the schedule of gatherings for this Sunday, April 17th.

Sunrise Service at St. James Episcopal Church, 8:00am
Community Breakfast at the Baptist Fellowship Hall, 9:00am
Service of the Resurrection at the Lake City Public School, 10:30am
Easter Mass at St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, 3:30pm

The Service of the Resurrection at 10:30am will be broadcasted through a Zoom link. The link for this service can be found below.

There will be no gatherings or activities (games or Bible study) offered this week. Be on the look out for the electronic survey about our summer season together and the upcoming sermon series, This is Our Story, This is Our Song. And that’s it for your announcements this week folks.

Hey Everyone,

I hope this post finds you all well and in good spirits on this final Friday before Holy Week. Although our regularly scheduled gatherings are cancelled, for those in Lake City, there are plenty of opportunities to observe Holy Week. Although I will post this information again, I’ve included the schedule for Holy Week at the end of this communication.

This Sunday is Palm Sunday… and as such we’ll have live palm reeds for those attending the worship service on Sunday. For those who might not be joining us for the service, I’ll leave the remainder of the palms in a bucket in front of the church. If you’d like one, please swing by the church on Sunday (starting at 12:00pm). This week’s lectionary readings only offer a Psalm and a Gospel reading, the latter which will be the preaching text this week. You can find them both here.

Mid-Week Prayers
Join us this Wednesday, April 13th for our final mid-week Lenten Prayer at noon in the CPC sanctuary. This service will also include a special celebration of the Lord’s Supper.

Wednesday Bible Study
Last week, we completed our trek through the whole Bible! Consequently, we’re taking the next couple of weeks off. Look out for a survey next week to suggest “hot topics” for our next Bible Study series.
