We’re going back inside today!

Hey folks in Lake City,

This is your weather inside/outside update for today, Sunday, June 30th: We will be going back inside for today’s morning worship service. Looking forward to seeing you soon!

Fifth Sunday of Ordinary Time

Hey Everyone,

Happy Saturday to all. I hope this post finds you in good spirits and ready for the Lord’s Day. Tomorrow, June 30th, is the Fifth Sunday of Ordinary Time and our last service before our summer schedule begins.

I’m representing the Presbytery of Western Colorado as our advisory delegate to the commissioners. And, I’ll be back just in time to call games in the park for the 4th of July festivities.

Don’t forget that we are planning on being outside tomorrow for the worship service, but should it look like rain, I will post all updates on this page.

With my absence, there are a number of regular weekly event that are canceled. Please check below for more details.

Hey Everyone!

I hope you are all well and in good spirits at we begin the fourth week of ordinary time. The big news this week is that this Sunday, June 23rd, we’re going outside! With a 110 folks in the sanctuary last week, it got a little crowded so we’re moving our 10:00am service into the yard. If you’re interested and able to help set up, we’ll begin at 9:00am. If we have questionable weather in the morning, please check our website: www.lakecitypresbyterian.org for the latest update on our service. Regardless of whether we’re in or out, we’ll gather tomorrow for worship at 10:00am. This Sunday, we’ll continue on in our exploration of 2 Corinthians, as I teach about God’s abundant grace.

Second Sunday of Ordinary Time

Hey Everyone,

This Sunday, June 9th is more than just the second Sunday of ordinary time, it’s also our first ever Sign-up Sunday! What is Sign-up Sunday, you ask? It’s that special time of year when I post a bunch of sign-up sheets on the bulletin board in Darley Hall. These sheets represent myriad opportunities to plug into the life of our faith community this summer.

As our ministries have grown each summer, we need more folks to help us serve the community and the trail hikers, as we serve Christ. To that end, take a gander at the cork board in Darley Hall and check out where you can connect.

We need folks for our summer set up team, our welcome team, and our fellowship team. We need readers for Sunday worship and we’d love for some of you to share your musical talents with us. We’ve got lots of opportunities at the hiker center and with the Hearts and Spades Garden project. There are lots of ways to plug in, so take a moment before Sunday and ask the Holy Spirit how you might offer your time and talents for God’s Kingdom this summer.

Likewise, as folks return, our common life is growing a little busier. Please take a moment to look over these announcements for the week ahead:

Service for Pat Stone
The Service in Witness to the Resurrection for Patricia O’Donnell Stone will be held on Saturday, June 15th at 2:00pm in the CPC church yard (weather permitting). A BBQ reception will follow immediately after in the Presbyterian Annex. All are invited to attend.

We’re playing games this week! Join us on Monday, June 10th 7:00pm-8:30pm in the Annex/Trail Hiker Center.

First Sunday of Ordinal Time

Hey Everyone,

I hope you’re all well and ready for some exciting news… I’m thrilled to announce that our Japanese manual shaved iced machine arrived this week. And, without any exaggeration, it may be the most amazing thing I have ever purchased for a ministry in all of my years. I never knew so much joy could come from a fluffy piece of ice.

This Sunday, after the service during fellowship, I’ll be shaving up some delicious icy treats. This Sunday also marks the beginning of ordinary or ordinal time, when our paraments turn to green for the remainder of the summer. If that wasn’t enough, this Sunday, June 2nd, we’ll also be celebrating communion. If you are joining us via Zoom, don’t forget your bread and juice.

Also, don’t forget that tomorrow evening, Saturday, June 1st at 5:00pm, Bob Downs will be giving his second presentation on his medical mission trip to the Ukraine.

Here are the announcements for this week:
