Epiphany Greetings to all,

I hope this post finds you all well and dwelling in the spirit of Epiphany. As many of you know, next week I’ll be away leading TOPCON!, the Theology of Play Conference, at Stony Point Center–the national conference center of the PC(USA).

This will be the fourth gathering for this conference, and I’m even more excited this year because Silas will be joining me for the first time. For those interested, my opening plenary session will be on reimagining the image and likeness of God in relationship to our capacity to play. If you’d like to join that session, please contact me for the Zoom link.

Consequently, Silas and I will be departing directly after the service this Sunday to catch our flight. Don’t worry, we’ll be back in time for the following Sunday worship service. We won’t, however be having Monday night Games Up Here or our Wednesday night Bible Study. Both weekly gatherings will resume the week of Monday, January 26th.

This Sunday, January 18th, we’ll celebrate the baptism of Jesus Christ during our Lord’s Day Worship at 10:00am in the sanctuary and on Zoom. Hey Everyone,

I hope you are all well and feeling the blessings of the Epiphany season (it started on January 6th). Tomorrow, Sunday, January 11th we’ll be gathering for Epiphany Sunday! Join us at 10:00am for our Lord’s Day Worship as we celebrate the arrival of the Magi in the town of Bethlehem to pay homage to the infant Jesus. As usual, a fellowship time with cookies and coffee will follow directly after the service.

This Monday, January 12th, we’re having Games Up Here on Monday night! Join us from 7:00pm to 9:00pm in Darley Hall.

This Wednesday, January 14th, we’re gathering for our 5th session of our Biblical Canonization series. This week, we’ll be exploring how our understanding of the Bible shifted in the early 19th century and how that shift gave rise to the doctrine of Biblical inerrancy. Join us at 5:00pm in Darley Hall and on Zoom.

Happy New Year Everyone!

I hope you’re all well and excited for another new year at CPC. This year, we will celebrate the 150th anniversary of our church and the 5th year of the Trail Hiker Center. Although our main celebrations won’t begin until the summer, it’s great to be reminded of how God has used this little church in the mountains to touch so many lives over the past century and a half.

This, Sunday, January 4th, we’re gathering at 10:00am in the CPC sanctuary for our first Lord’s Day Worship Service of the year. This Sunday, we’ll also be celebrating communion, so if you’re joining us online, please remember to bring your own communion elements to the broadcast.

We’ll also be having our first-Sunday-of-the-month potluck directly after the service. In honor of the new year, the theme for the potluck is NOODLES! Make a dish with any type of noodles and join us for this special time of fellowship and food.

There will be no games next week on Monday night, but we will be having Bible Study on Wednesday, January 7th at 5:00pm in Darley Hall.
