Hey Everyone!

This week is the fourth Sunday of Epiphany, when we’ll gather together online and in the sanctuary (with masks) to worship our God. We’ll be exploring Mark 1:21-28 this week, when Jesus demonstrates his power for those in Capernaum. We’ll also be holding a congregational meeting directly following the service to approve our 2021 budget. Please plan on remaining for this important meeting.

Beyond Sunday, we’ve got our regular gatherings this week and a return of the Men’s Prayer Breakfast on Thursdays. The details and links for this week’s gatherings are below.

Weekly Bible Study
Join us for our weekly Bible Study this week as we look at the book of Esther. We’re meeting at our usual time on Wednesday, February 3rd from 5:00-6:30pm. The Zoom link and YouTube link (for past weeks) are on our website.

Men’s Prayer Breakfast Resumes!
This Thursday, February 4th the Men’s Prayer Breakfast resumes at 7:00am MST in the Baptist Fellowship Hall. Join the men of Lake City for a hearty breakfast, a time of prayer, and a exploration into the Scriptures.

Next week, on Tuesday, February 9th, we’ll begin a special formational class called “Welcome to the Apostles’ Creed” This educational offering will be from 4:00 to 5:00pm MST on Zoom. Please check next week’s email and website post for the link.

Hey CPC!

This Sunday, January 17th, we’ll celebrate the Second Sunday of Epiphany, when we’ll return to Ordinary Time, which means we’re back (for a few weeks) to green paraments. I’ll be preaching from the John 1 text on the calling of Phillip and Nathanael. We’ve also got a new game on Monday night for Games Up Here (information forthcoming). On Wednesday, we’re also going to dig around in the books of 1 & 2 Chronicles to see what we can find. And if that’s not enough, I’ll also be hosting a Zoom 101.2 sandbox where you all can practice, fiddle around, and experiment with all that Zoom has to offer. Well, the holy season is over and it’s back to business as usual. Though this week is considered ordinary time–which means the paraments (the colored coverings on the pulpit and communion table) change to green, this Sunday we celebrate the Baptism of Jesus, which is a special holy Sunday that we return to white. Join us on Sunday morning at 9:30am as we explore the Gospel of Mark’s story of Jesus’ baptism. Beyond that, here are your weekly announcements and Zoom links.

Hey CPC!

This Sunday, we celebrate Epiphany in our worship service, despite the fact that it’s technically on Wednesday January, 6th. For those who may not be aware, Epiphany is the day when we celebrate the Magi’s arrival in Bethlehem to pay honor to Jesus. This Sunday we’ll explore their role in that story, their place in our lives, and how we might embrace a spirit of Epiphany as we being a new year together.

This Sunday is also the first Sunday of the month, which means we’ll be celebrating the Eucharist. So please remember to bring juice and bread to the Zoom service. If you’re planning on joining me in the Sanctuary, please let me know (206-962-9886) so that I can prepare the appropriate amount of communion elements for the service.

All are welcome to join us on Thursday, December 24th in the Community Presbyterian Church yard at 5:30pm for an abbreviated outdoor Christmas Eve Service.

The service will include short readings and limited verses from several of your favorite Christmas hymns. And, don’t worry, we will be lighting candles and singing Silent Night, as we gather under a star light mountain sky. The service will conclude before 6:00pm.

We will be outdoors, so please dress warm. Folding chairs will be available upon entry. Please remember to get your service bulletin and a candle as you enter the yard (and please remember to return the candle when the service is over).

If you’re unable to join us live, please consider joining us via Zoom. Also, if you’re able, you can pick up a Christmas Eve service bulletin and a candle just inside the front door of Community Presbyterian Church (and please return those candles too). 😉

Hey Everyone!

We’re about to start the fourth week of Advent, which will take us all the way to Christmas Eve. If you’re looking for information on our outdoor (and Zoom) Christmas Eve service, please see the information below.

This Sunday, we’ll light the Candle of Love in our morning worship service. The sanctuary is open, but we are encouraging folks to remain home and use the Zoom links to join us online. We’ll also be singing all seven verses of O’Come O’Come Emmanuel as we look toward Christmas–the holy day where we celebrate Jesus’ incarnation into the world.

Hey Friends,

This coming Sunday, December 13th is the third Sunday of Advent. During worship, we will light the pink candle, which is also called the Candle of Joy. In some traditions, it is referred to as the Mary Candle, and it is from this emphasis that we’ll explore a familiar passage from the Gospel of Luke known as the Magnificat or the Song of Mary. Just a reminder that we’re still on Zoom and the links for the service and others weekly activities are below.
