I hope this communication finds you all well. It’s been a busy week here in Lake City and I’ve repeatedly put off my weekly email, consequently why I’m send it so late on Saturday afternoon. There is a lot of things happening this week, so make sure you check out the announcements below. Additionally, don’t forget that tomorrow, we turn our clocks forward to Daylight Savings Time. If you forget, we’ll see you at our fellowship time after the service. 🙂

Tomorrow, we’ll be celebrating the Eucharist, so please remember, if you’re joining us via Zoom, please bring your own bread and juice/wine to the broadcast. Mid-Week Prayers
Join us this coming Wednesday for our Lenten mid-week. Every Wednesday during Lent, all are invited to participate in a 25-30 minute time of prayer using the Taizé chants. The service will be in the sanctuary and will begin promptly at 12:00pm (Noon).

Hey Everyone,

I hope all is well on this sunny, but chilly morning (in Lake City). This Sunday, March 6th, we’ll gather with Grace Christian Fellowship at the Lake City Art Center for their monthly community worship gathering at 9:30am. During the service, the AICM mission team will share testimonies about our trip to Show Low, AZ and our ministry on the White Mountain Apache Reservation. If you’re not in town, don’t worry, I’ll still be broadcasting the service via Zoom. The link can be found below.

And, don’t forget, we’ll also be joining Grace Fellowship for their monthly potluck after the service. So plan on bringing your favorite dish as we celebrate an incredible mission trip and the unity of the body of Christ in Christian fellowship. 

It was great to see a number of you join us for our Ash Wednesday Service this past Wednesday. Several of you commented that you’ve really come to appreciate the prayers of the Taizé Community. Well then, I’m happy share that during the six weeks of the Lent (March 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th and April 6th, 13th), we’ll be offering weekly prayers in the CPC sanctuary. The gatherings will begin at 12:00pm (noon) and last around 25-30 minutes. They will primarily consist of sung Taizé prayers, a reading from Scripture and a period of silence. If you hear the noon bells, you’ll know that we’re gathering.

No Order of Worship this week.

I hope you are all well on this chilly Saturday night. I’m sorry I’m writing you so late and that this will be a short communication. I’ll share more in the morning worship service.

This Sunday is Transfiguration Sunday where we highlight the majesty of the Transfiguration. It’s also the last Sunday before Lent, which means that our Ash Wednesday service will be held this coming Wednesday, March 2nd at noon. This week’s preaching text comes from the New Testament reading found in 2 Corinthians 3:12-4:2. You can read it and the other lectionary texts for this week here.

Ash Wednesday
Join us this coming week for our Ash Wednesday service on March 2nd at 12:00pm in-person in the sanctuary. The service will include Taizé chants the Imposition of Ashes. The service will NOT be broadcasted on Zoom. 

Weekly Bible Study
Because of Ash Wednesday, our weekly Bible Study will NOT meet this week. Join us the following week on Wednesday, March 9th at our usual time as we explore the book of James.

Hey Everyone!

I hope you’re all well and in good spirits on this sunny Friday afternoon. Right now, Silas and I are getting ready for our mission trip to Show Low, AZ with Grace Christian Fellowship (additional trip details below). Although we won’t be in the worship service this Sunday (as we’re leaving that morning at 6:30am) we’ve got a wonderful service planned. 😉

This week, we’re excited to welcome the congregation of Grace Christian Fellowship to our Sunday worship service. We’re also blessed to have Andy Dozier, one of their elders, as our preacher! Andy will be preaching from the Gospel lectionary passage from Luke 6:27-38. You can find it and the other lectionary texts here.

Don’t forget to pray for the mission trip team!
Jason and Silas are participating in the Grace Fellowship Mission Trip to Show Low, AZ. The team for this year’s trip are: Lyn Lampert, Caron Jones, Amy, Aven, and Micah Humphreys, Christian, Levi, and Elliot Hartman, Jason and Silas Santos. Please remember to pray for them as they serve the ongoing work at AICM (American Indian Christian Mission). The team departs at 6:30am on Sunday, February 20 and will return in the evening of Friday, February 25. 

Help Denny and Pat Move!
For those who don’t know, Denny and Pat are moving into their new house in Montrose on Saturday, February 26th. For those who’d like to help load the truck on Saturday, meet at Denny and Pat’s house here in Lake City at 9:00am.

Hey Everyone,

Sorry this post is coming so late on Saturday. I’ve been on the go at this ELCA conference I’m speaking at. Today alone, I will have taught/spoken five different times (for over six hours of teaching). It’s been a blessing to be with our reformed brothers and sisters in the Lutheran church. 😉 That said, I’m excited to be able to connect with you all tomorrow on our Zoom worship service.

Just a reminder, because I’m in Minneapolis, tomorrow’s Sunday morning worship service will be completely on Zoom. There will be a Zoom video connection available in Darley Hall for any visitors who show up for the service on Sunday. Tomorrow’s preaching text is from Luke 6:17-26. This Sunday is the fourth Sunday after Epiphany, and I can’t wait to share some interesting insights from this weeks Gospel text–Luke 4:21-30. Hey Everyone!

I hope you’re all safe and sound in your respective locations around our country. It seems like everyone is getting snow except those of us here in Lake City. That said, it did start snowing a little this afternoon.

Most of the Christmas decorations in the church have been taken down and stored away until next year. We decided to leave the garland on the fence, just for good measure. 🙂 Thanks to Ron and Diane Bruce for the help.

I hope you are all well. As many of you know, at this time there are a higher number of COVID cases in town than we’d like to see.
