Hey Everyone,

I hope you are all warm and safe on this rainy Thursday afternoon. I’m sad to say that I have some disappointing news for you. We are cancelling the Scottish Communion service scheduled for this coming Sunday, September 20th. My friend Duncan (the bagpiper) call on Monday to let me know that his father had entered into the ICU for issues related to congestive heart failure. Duncan wasn’t sure what his week would hold, but after his father expressed his wishes, they have moved him to hospice. When Duncan called, he was already on the road to Boise to see his father. While I’m disappointed in this cancellation, I’m more saddened by the grief my friend and colleague is bearing at this time. Let us hold our bagpiper friend in prayer this week as he engages in the holiness of these days.

To be clear, we’re still having our regular Lord’s Day Worship Service this Sunday, September 20th, but we won’t be celebrating our Scottish heritage nor the Lord’s Supper. If you’re in town, please consider joining us in the CPC sanctuary this Sunday at 10:00am for the Sixteenth Sunday of Ordinal Time. Fellowship will follow directly after the service with cookies and coffee in Darley Fellowship Hall.

The Trail Hiker Center is down to its last two weeks. The opportunities to serve this ministry are also dwindling. We’re so very grateful for all of our volunteers this summer. Given the cancellation of the Scottish Communion Sunday Service, I’d like to invite all of you who have served in the Trail Hiker Center to join me on Sunday night, September 20th, at 5:30pm, for a Filipino feast in honor of your summer of service. This means all of you hosts, shuttle drivers, laundry angels, and any other role for which you embodied this summer–please join us. If you’d like to join us, however, you MUST RSVP!!! Please let me know if you’ll be attending by emailing or texting me by Friday night, September 18th, at midnight.

Next Week
Next week, we’ll have all of our regular gatherings. Join us on Monday, September 21st for Games Up Here from 7:00p to 9:00pm in the Annex/Trail Hiker Center. And then, on Wednesday, September 23rd, we’ll finish our trek though the history of the church in our summer series–Stuff Every Christian Should Know at 5:00pm in the Annex/Trail Hiker Center. This week we’ll look at the last century of the Western church.

Hey Everyone,

Happy Friday. I hope my post finds you all well and in blessed spirits. This Sunday, September 13th is the Fifteenth Sunday of Ordinal time and we’ll gather for our Lord’s Day Worship Service at 10:00am in the sanctuary. Join us for fellowship immediately following the service in Darley Fellowship Hall. Coffee and cookies will be served.

This Week
Join us on Monday, September 14th, as we gather from 7:00pm to 9:00pm for our weekly game night–Games Up Here in the Trail Hiker Center/Annex.

On Tuesday, September 15th, there will be a Souper Supper fundraiser to support Oasis de Esperanza School in Managua, Nicaragua from 5:00pm to 6:30pm at the Baptist Fellowship hall. The Soup Supper is free of charge, but donations will be accepted to support the school. We also need people to sign up to bring soup, bread or dessert. Any questions can be directed to Lyn Lampert.

Then, on Wednesday, September 16th, we’ll continue with our 18th session of Stuff Every Christian Should Know series. Next week, we’ll be exploring the centuries between the beginning of the Enlightenment (1740ish) to the onset of the Pentecostal movement (1912).

Happy Thursday! I hope this post finds you all well and enjoying the lovely September weather here in Lake City.

Sunday Worship
This Sunday, September 6th, is our Fourteenth Sunday of Ordinal Time and we’ll be gathering to celebrate our Lord’s Day Worship Service at 10:00am in the CPC sanctuary. This Sunday, we’ll be celebrating the Eucharist and we’ll be using our new communion set (from the Presbytery of Western Colorado). If you’re joining us online, consider bringing your own communion elements and celebrate with us. Fellowship will follow the worship service in Darley Fellowship Hall.

The Week Ahead
Next week, we’re back to business as usual. We’ll have our weekly game night–Games Up Here–on Monday night, September 7th from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. We’ll also be holding our weekly Bible Study at 5:00pm on Wednesday, September 9th. We’re in our 18th session of Stuff Every Christian Should Know series, and next week we’ll be exploring the Reformation period up to the Enlightenment.

Trail Hiker Center
Our hiker dinner season is over, but we still have one more month of hosting hikers. We’re also in desperate need of shuttle drivers to help us get hikers to and from Spring Creek Pass. Please see me (Jason) to volunteer for either opportunity.

Just because our hiker meals are officially over, don’t forget that some of our hosts like to offer Sunday night meals on a smaller scale. Please see Jon Eidson for more details. Likewise, if you’re feeling like you’d still like to feed more hikers, consider dropping off a casserole or shareable meal to the hiker center. If you make them, we’ll serve them up to our hikers!
