Trinity Sunday

Hey Everyone,

I hope you’re all well. I’m still in Kentucky, but I’m headed back tomorrow. I’m looking forward to celebrating the Lord’s Day worship with you all this Sunday, June 15 at 10:00am in the sanctuary and online. Join us for fellowship after the service.

We’ve got Games Up Here on Monday, June 16th at 7:00pm in the THC, and we’re be returning to our weekly Bible study on Wednesday, June 18th at 5:00pm in the THC.

Our monthly session meeting will also be taking place this Wednesday, June 18th at 10:00am in Darley Hall.

Also, just a reminder, that now the Trail Hiker Center is open, AA has moved their three weekly meetings to Darley Hall from 12:00pm to 1:00pm.

That’s it for this week, folks, save one little request/favor. If anyone is already going to Gunnison tomorrow, Friday, June 13th, and will be there around 1:00pm. I’d would love a ride home from the airport. I don’t want anyone to make a special trip up, as I’m sure there are folks coming through Gunnison tomorrow. Please text me first to see if this favor has already been extended. Thanks!

Pentecost Sunday

Hey Everyone!

I hope you are all well and keeping warm on this chilly June evening. The weather for tomorrow, Friday, June 5th is promising, which is good, because we’ve got our Church Clean Up Day tomorrow morning at 9:00am in Darley Hall. We’ll be weeding, raking, laying some mulch, trimming, and in general, tidying up the front of the church in preparation for the summer and our outdoor services.

This Sunday, June 8th is Pentecost Sunday, so don’t forget to wear RED! This Sunday, we’ll celebrate the arrival of the Holy Spirit in worship and then we’ll gather after the service in Darley Hall for a time of fellowship.

Many thanks to those who have dropped off cookies for our Cookie Drive. We’ve still got room in the Darley freezer for some more, so if you haven’t already, consider baking a couple dozen of your favorite cookies and putting them in the Darley kitchen refrigerator (in a freezer zip bag please).

The Trail Hiker Center has been open since last Sunday and we haven’t seen one hiker, but I’ve heard from a reliable source that they will likely begin arriving next week! So sign up for a shift for next week and you can be the first to welcome our early CDT hikers.

Please note, that there will be NO Games Up Here or Bible Study this coming week, as I’ll be attending an intergenerational conference at Asbury College in Kentucky.

Here is the Zoom link and the order of worship for this week:

Ascension Sunday

Hey Everyone!

I hope you are all well and ready for an exciting summer. This coming Lord’s Day is Ascension Sunday, the special holy day when we remember Christ’s ascension into heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father. Join us this Sunday, June 1st for our 10:00am worship service in the sanctuary and on Zoom (links below). We will be celebrating the Eucharist this Sunday, but we WILL NOT be having our monthly potluck.

We will, however, still have fellowship after worship. That said, we’re in desperate need of more cookies! To that end, we’re running our PreSummer Cookie Drive to make sure we have enough cookies for fellowship as we welcome back our summer residents and guests. If you’re interested in participating in our cookie drive, bake two dozen, put them in a freezer bag, and put them in the Darley freezer. Thanks so much!

Tomorrow, Friday, May 30th, we’ll be holding our Trail Hiker Center clean up at 10:30am at the Annex/Trail Hiker Center. We’ll be spreading mulch, sweeping, picking up sticks, and doing some indoor cleaning and sorting. Join us tomorrow morning at 10:30am as we prepare to welcome our 2025 class of hikers.

Our Lake City Trail Hiker Center opens up this Sunday, June 1st at 9:00am. Starting this Sunday, you’ll be able to sign up for some early shifts in the hiker center, which will begin on Monday, June 9th. Check out the bulletin board in Darley Hall to sign up!

We’re having Games Up Here on Monday, June 2nd this week. Join us in the PRESBYTERIAN ANNEX at 7:00pm for some tabletop games!

This coming Wednesday, June 4th, we’ll gather in the PRESBYTERIAN ANNEX at 5:00pm for our weekly Bible Study. This week we’ll be explore the Gospel of John chapters 9-11. Join us in person and online.

If you knew Cheryl Adams and would like to participate in her Celebration of Life ceremony, gather at the IOOF cemetery (upper cemetery) on Monday June 2nd at 11:00am.

Finally, if you didn’t notice, we’re undergoing some improvements for this summer. With an almost complete new fence and a new brick patio, we’re almost ready for our outdoor worship services (staring later in June). Many thanks to Tom Arnold and Al Brown for all your hard work to improve our facilities. We are grateful.

Second Sunday of Eastertide

Hey CPC,

I hope you are all well and haven’t replied to any fake emails from me as late. I’m really sorry if our hacked email list has caused you any problems this week. So long as you don’t click any of the links in those fake emails, you’re probably okay. Remember, I will only ever email you all from lakecityjason@gmail.com. All other emails should be deleted and reported to me.

Tomorrow, Sunday, April 27th is the Second Sunday of Eastertide, which means there is still two days left in our Easter Octave. You’ve got two more days to celebrate with Easter Octave desserts!! We’ll gather tomorrow morning at 10:00am in the sanctuary for our Lord’s Day Worship Service, followed by fellowship in Darley Hall directly after.

I’ll be away from the church this week, as I’ve been invited back to Princeton Theological Seminary for the Princeton Youth Forum to participate in the 30th Anniversary of the Institute for Youth Ministry, My doctoral cohort–The Timothy Scholars–is being recognized. Consequently, there will be NO Games Up Here or our Wednesday Bible Study.

Looking ahead, next Sunday, May 4th, we will celebrate the Eucharist and gather after the service for our first-Sunday-of-the-month potluck. May’s potluck theme is Mexican fare in honor of Cinco de Mayo.

Palm Sunday 2025

Hey Everyone!

I hope you are all well and in joyous spirits as we prepare ourselves for tomorrow’s Palm Sunday Community Service. Tomorrow at 10:00am, Sunday, April 13th, we’re gathering together with the other churches in Lake City for our community worship service. Just like last year, the Palm Sunday Community Service will be held in the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Lyn Lampert will be our preacher for the service and 100% of the offering will go to our Lake City Christian Community Service fund.

Plan on remaining after the service for a little while as we consume some delicious cinnamon rolls (provided by the Country Store) and fold some palm crosses with the palm reeds. If you’re able to arrive early tomorrow to help set up chairs in the Baptist Fellowship Hall, please join us at 9:00am.

Because it’s Holy Week, there will be NO Game Up Here this coming Monday, April 14th, but we still are having our Weekly Bible Study on Wednesday, April 16th at 5:00pm in Darley Hall. For the next two weeks, we’ll be digging into the book of Colossians.
