Hey Everyone,
Well, it’s here. The ordinal/summer/tourist/hiker season is finally here. This Monday, June 1st launches our community and church into a new way of being and living. Our daily patterns change, our priorities shift, and we relate to one another in different ways. This is the season when we are called to new ways of serving and bearing witness to Christ’s love.
As many of you know, the Trail Hiker Center opens this Monday, June 1st. It’s the beginning of our sixth season of hiker ministry and it will be the fifth anniversary of starting the Lake City Trail Hiker Center. To that end, we’re holding a Trail Hiker Center Clean-Up-Day this Saturday, May 30th from 9:00am to 11:00am. We’ll be cleaning up the exterior property of the Trail Hiker Center–picking up sticks, pulling the weeds, spreading some fresh mulch, wiping down chairs and more. So grab your work gloves and join us this Saturday as we prepare for another season of hiker ministry.
I know that several of you are eager to sign up to be hosts at the Trail Hiker Center. A separate email will be sent soon with instructions for signing up for a shift. Keep in mind, we don’t typically have hosts for the first two weeks of June, so you’ll have plenty of time to sort out your summer schedules. I’ll share more about some upcoming changes at the THC on Sunday.
I’ll talk a little about this summer season this Sunday, May 31st, during our 10:00am Lord’s Day Worship Service. This Sunday is Trinity Sunday, the last of the high holy days before we enter a new season of ordinary time (and the color green). Join us on Sunday in the CPC sanctuary and on Zoom (links below). Fellowship will follow directly after the service with coffee and cookies in Darley Fellowship Hall.
This coming week, all of our regular gatherings are happening, so plan on joining us for games and our weekly Bible Study. Games Up Here will meet in the Annex/Trail Hiker Center from 7:00pm to 9:00pm this Monday, June 1st. Our weekly Bible study will meet at its usual time (at 5:00pm) in the Annex/Trail Hiker Center on Wednesday, June 3rd. This week will be our sixth session in our series–Stuff Every Christian Should Know. Both of these weekly gatherings will continue to meet in the Annex/Trail Hiker Center for the remainder of the season.
